Frederick
Frahm A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University (BM in Church Music & MM in Organ Performance), he studied organ and counterpoint with David Dahl, Gregory Peterson, and Randall McCarty; composition with Gregory Youtz (PLU), Gary Smart (University of Wyoming), Walter Pelz (Concordia University, River Forest), and Roger Briggs (Western Washington University). The composer's manuscripts, recordings and correspondence (1982-2004) are archived in the Mortvedt Library at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. A professional church musician for more than 25 years, Frahm currently serves as Director of Music and Principal Organist at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM. In addition to his work as a parish musician and a private studio teacher, he has contributed to the Bellingham Herald as a classical music critic and served as an adjunct faculty member of Concordia University (River Forest, IL) where he taught counterpoint, music theory & composition, as well as orchestration. He was recently elected as Dean of the Albuquerque chapter of the American Guild of Organists. His music for liturgy including choral anthems, organ works, and instrumental arrangements are performed widely throughout the US. Recently, several of his major organ works, many of which were inspired by the American Southwest regions, have received their first performances in Europe. CD recordings of the music of Frederick Frahm include To See God, performed by the Cantate Choir of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tacoma, WA, conducted by Joseph Pettit; The William Cullen Bryant Bicentennial Concert, including the premiere recording of "The Future Life" performed by Lenora Eve; Don't Panic; 60 Seconds for Piano; and My Dancing Day, including The St. Luke Service performed by the Las Cantantes Ensemble of the University of New Mexico, conducted by Dr. Maxine Thévenot. Publishers currently representing the music of Frederick Frahm are: Augsburg Publishing House, CanticaNova Publications, Church Publishing Corporation, Concordia Publishing House, Graphite Publishing, Live Oak House, Wayne Leupold Editions, Zimbel Press, Musik Fabrik (Paris), Capstone Records, and Wergo Schalplatten.
