Notes:

Father who keepest the stars in thy care, me, too, thy little one, childish in prayer.
            Charles G.D. Roberts (1860-1943)

With its contemporary starlit mood, singable vocal lines and just a bit of Latin, "A Child’s Prayer at Evening" is proving to be a real winner with teachers and young singers alike.

"A Child’s Prayer at Evening," a part of Star Prayers for SSA and Piano, was a winner in the 2004 Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition.

Text:

(Domine, cui sunt Pleiades curae)
Father, who keepest
spacerThe stars in Thy care,
Me, too, Thy little one,
spacerChildish in prayer,
Keep, as Thou keepest
spacerThe soft night through,
Thy long, white lilies
spacerAsleep in Thy dew.

- Charles G.D. Roberts (1860-1943)
